Oppo Sacro Lumbar Support — Model 2264
Semi-rigid elastic lumbar support with four metal stays and cross-back reinforcement straps for lower back and sacral support.
More structure than elastic support alone
The Oppo Sacro Lumbar Support (Model 2264) is a semi-rigid elastic lumbar support belt manufactured by Oppo Medical, a Taiwanese orthopaedic support company with over 50 years of product development history.
Oppo Medical products are used in physiotherapy, chiropractic, and orthopaedic settings across Australia and internationally. The 2264 model features a 9 inch (22.8cm) back height, four pliable metal stays positioned either side of the spine, a cross-back elastic reinforcement strap system, a foam-bonded front abdominal panel, and a breathable elastic and soft pile construction.
This belt sits between the lighter Allegro Ortho Light Back Support (B24) and a rigid lumbar orthosis in terms of support level. It is appropriate for patients who need more than elastic compression alone but do not require a rigid brace.
Measure at the level of your navel
Select the correct size by measuring your waist circumference at the level of your navel.

| S | 58.4–71.1 cm (23–28 in) |
| M | 71.1–83.8 cm (28–33 in) |
| L | 83.8–96.5 cm (33–38 in) |
| XL | 96.5–109.2 cm (38–43 in) |
| XXL | 109.2–121.9 cm (43–48 in) |
Semi-rigid support with adjustable compression
Metal stays
Four pliable stays sit bilaterally along the paraspinal muscles to limit painful end-range movement.
Cross-back straps
Elastic reinforcement straps apply targeted compression from the lateral aspects.
Abdominal compression
Circumferential compression increases intra-abdominal pressure, helping stiffen the lumbar spine.
Comfort front panel
The foam-bonded abdominal panel reduces irritation during extended wear.
Breathable construction
Elastic and soft pile materials help manage heat and moisture during daily activity.
Useful when more structural control is needed
- Lower back pain and muscle strains: Metal stays and elastic compression address both structural support and proprioceptive feedback needs during acute and subacute lower back pain.
- Sacroiliac joint support: The 9-inch height and sacral coverage support the lumbosacral junction and upper sacral region.
- Lumbar spondylosis and disc-related pain: The semi-rigid stays reduce end-range movement that may aggravate facet joint and disc pain during flare-ups.
- Post-injury or post-procedure support: Appropriate when structured support is needed but immobilisation-level bracing is not required.
- Occupational use: Helpful during physically demanding work involving prolonged standing, bending, or lifting.
- Evidence caveat: A 2022 meta-analysis of non-rigid lumbar supports found positive evidence primarily for the subacute stage of low back pain. Evidence for chronic low back pain is mixed.
How this compares to our other back supports
The indication and the level of support required should guide the choice.
Allegro Ortho Light Back Support (B24)
Lighter, fully elastic construction with no stays. Better for day-to-day comfort wear, mild lower back pain, proprioceptive feedback, and general activity support.
Oppo Sacro Lumbar Support 2264
Semi-rigid with four metal stays. Better for patients who need more structural control of lumbar movement during flare-ups, post-strain recovery, or occupational bending and lifting demands.
Allegro Ortho Core Stability Belt (OCSP917)
Firmer non-stretch panel with web strap, specifically designed for SIJ instability, pelvic girdle pain, and post-pregnancy presentations requiring targeted pelvic compression.
Fitting instructions
- Wrap the support around your waist and position it so the four metal stays are placed equally on each side of the spine — two stays on the left and two on the right of the midline.
- Apply the desired level of abdominal compression and secure the main hook-and-loop closure at the front.
- Pull the elastic reinforcement straps from each side of the back to apply additional lumbar compression, then secure them to the front of the support.
- The belt should feel firm and supportive without restricting your breathing. You should be able to take a full comfortable breath when fastened.
- Wear during activities that aggravate your back. Remove during periods of complete rest and do not wear during sleep.
- Do not apply over areas where heat-generating topical products have been used — compression over these products significantly increases skin absorption and burn risk.
- Washing: hand wash in mild soap at 30 degrees Celsius. Air dry away from heat and sunlight. Do not bleach, iron, or dry clean.
Important — please read before use
- Do not use if you have a known allergy to rubber or latex — check with the manufacturer if uncertain about material composition.
- Do not apply over skin conditions, wounds, or areas of acute open injury.
- Do not use with heat-generating topical products on the same area, as compression increases dermal absorption significantly.
- If symptoms worsen, or if you develop new leg pain, numbness, tingling, or bowel or bladder changes, remove the belt and seek medical or chiropractic assessment immediately.
- Prolonged continuous use without active rehabilitation may reduce the stimulus for intrinsic core muscle function.
- If you are pregnant, consult your obstetrician or midwife before using any abdominal compression support.
- This is a supportive comfort aid, not a medical device. It does not treat the underlying cause of back pain.
