Allegro Ortho Light Back Support — B24
Lightweight, breathable elastic lumbar support belt for lower back pain, lumbago, and back strains.
A lighter, flexible counterpart to the Core Stability Belt
The Allegro Ortho Light Back Support is a lightweight, non-rigid elastic lumbar support belt manufactured in India and distributed under the Allegro Ortho brand.
It is the lighter, more flexible counterpart in the range. Where the Core Stability Belt uses a non-stretch panel and web strap for firmer compression, the Light Back Support uses a total-knit elastic construction with additional elastic knitted bands for a more flexible, wearable option.
The belt is 8 inches, approximately 20cm, in height and covers the full lumbar and lower thoracic region. It is made from 70% elastic and 30% nylon with POM hardware, is latex-free, and is available in grey/black.
It is designed for general lower back pain, lumbago, back strains, and patients who need light-to-moderate support during daily activities.
Measure at the level of your navel
Select the correct size by measuring your waist circumference at the level of your navel.
| Size | Waist Circumference |
|---|---|
| S | 71–81 cm (28–32 in) |
| M | 81–91 cm (32–36 in) |
| L | 91–102 cm (36–40 in) |
| XL | 102–112 cm (40–44 in) |
| XXL | 112–122 cm (44–48 in) |
Light-to-moderate compression for daily activity support
Elastic compression
Provides light-to-moderate support to the lumbar spine and surrounding musculature during daily activities.
Even support
The total-knit construction wraps evenly around the lumbar region for uniform compression.
Extra back bands
Additional elastic knitted bands across the back panel provide localised support without rigid bulk.
Postural feedback
Continuous tactile pressure may improve awareness of lumbar posture and movement during activity.
Breathable wear
Light fabric allows comfortable wear under clothing during work, domestic activity, or light exercise.
Evidence and honest context
Research for non-rigid lumbar support belts is genuinely mixed, so it is best to view the belt as an adjunct rather than a standalone solution.
- Subacute low back pain: This is the most supported use. A 2022 systematic review found positive results from several RCTs, particularly for pain lasting 4 to 12 weeks.
- Spinal stability: Elastic lumbar belts can increase intra-abdominal pressure during loading, which may stiffen the lumbar spine and reduce compressive load on discs.
- Proprioceptive feedback: Continuous tactile input may improve trunk muscle activation patterns and movement awareness.
- Acute low back pain: Evidence is limited for pain lasting less than 4 weeks.
- Chronic low back pain: Evidence is mixed, and most guidelines do not recommend lumbar supports as a primary intervention.
- Muscle dependency: Prolonged continuous use may reduce core stabiliser activity in some patients, so use should be activity-specific unless clinically directed.
Light Back Support vs Core Stability Belt
The indication, not just comfort preference, should guide the choice.
Light Back Support (B24)
Lighter elastic construction designed for day-to-day comfort and activity support. Suitable for general lower back pain, lumbago, back strains, and patients who need wearability under clothing. Better for proprioceptive support and mild compression during regular daily activity.
Core Stability Belt (OCSP917)
Firmer non-stretch panel with an additional web strap, specifically indicated for SIJ instability, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, post-pregnancy pelvic girdle pain, and presentations requiring firmer targeted compression.
Fitting instructions
- Place the support on a plain firm surface, then wrap it around your waist and pull it to achieve the required tension.
- Secure the Velcro around your abdomen to a firm and comfortable fit.
- Make a final adjustment to tension and secure for extra compression if needed.
- The belt should feel snug and supportive without restricting breathing.
- Wear during activities that aggravate your back, such as prolonged standing, sitting at a desk, lifting, or driving.
- Remove during rest and do not wear during sleep.
- Do not wear continuously all day without clinical guidance.
- Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent. Do not bleach, tumble dry, or dry in direct sunlight. Rinse well and air dry.
Important — please read before use
