About this product

A broad multi-herb formula for mild joint pain and inflammation

Metagenics Joint Intensive Care is a TGA-listed complementary medicine manufactured by Metagenics (Aust) Pty Ltd for the relief of mild arthritis, joint pain, and inflammation.

It was previously sold under the name Inflavonoid Intensive Care. Patients who recognise that name will find this is the same formula under a new label.

This is a broader-spectrum formula than Inflagesic. Where Inflagesic focuses on the Rhuleave-K curcumin-boswellia combination for fast-onset acute pain relief, Joint Intensive Care adds white willow bark, ginger, quercetin, citrus bioflavonoids, and capsicum to target a wider range of inflammatory pathways.

The product is fully plant-derived and free from animal products, dairy protein, lactose, eggs, gluten, wheat, nuts, yeast, soy protein, and artificial additives.

Active ingredients per tablet

Seven plant-based ingredients targeting multiple pathways

At the full therapeutic dose of six tablets daily, multiply each listed amount by six.

Quercetin — 250mg

A flavonoid antioxidant that may inhibit histamine release and support broad anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity.

BCM-95 Turmeric — 152mg

Equivalent to 3.8g dry rhizome and 106mg curcumin. BCM-95 combines curcumin with turmeric essential oils to enhance bioavailability.

BosPure Boswellia — 150mg

Equivalent to 1.5g dry gum oleoresin. A high-AKBA extract targeting the 5-LOX inflammatory pathway.

White Willow Bark — 60mg

Equivalent to 1.5g dry stem bark. Provides salicylates that support COX-mediated prostaglandin modulation.

Ginger — 62.5mg

Equivalent to 500mg dry rhizome. Gingerols and shogaols support COX and LOX pathway modulation and digestive comfort.

Citrus Bioflavonoids — 100mg

A flavonoid mixture including hesperidin and rutin that supports antioxidant activity, vascular integrity, and microcirculation.

Capsicum — 25mg

Provides capsaicin, a TRPV1 receptor agonist that contributes to the product's pain-modulating profile.

What it does

Multi-pathway support for mild joint inflammation

1

COX support

White willow and quercetin target prostaglandin-related inflammatory pathways.

2

LOX support

Boswellia, curcumin, and ginger target leukotriene-related inflammatory pathways.

3

NF-kB modulation

Curcumin contributes to regulation of broader inflammatory signalling.

4

Pain modulation

Capsicum supports TRPV1-mediated pain signalling modulation.

5

Flexible dosing

Designed for higher-dose use during flare-ups and lower-dose ongoing management.

How it helps you

Evidence behind the primary ingredients

  1. BCM-95 turmeric and BosPure boswellia: A randomised double-blind trial in 66 patients with osteoarthritis reported greater improvements in pain and function than celecoxib at 24 weeks.
  2. White willow bark: Published comparison research supports its use for reducing mild joint pain, consistent with the salicylate-related COX mechanism.
  3. Ginger: A systematic review of nine RCTs found small but statistically significant reductions in pain and disability in osteoarthritis.
  4. Evidence caveat: The BCM-95 and boswellia trial involved researchers associated with ingredient manufacturers, which should be considered when interpreting results.
  5. Appropriate scope: The TGA indications cover mild arthritis and mild joint pain, not moderate or severe osteoarthritis or autoimmune joint disease.
Product comparison

How it compares with other Metagenics joint products

Joint Intensive Care

Best suited to ongoing mild joint inflammation and broader multi-pathway support through seven botanical ingredients.

Glucosamine Intensive Care

Best suited to joint cartilage support and long-term structural maintenance, with effects developing over weeks to months.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Joint Intensive Care was previously sold as Inflavonoid Intensive Care. The formulation is the same — the product has been rebranded but the active ingredients and amounts are unchanged.

Both contain curcumin and boswellia. Inflagesic uses Rhuleave-K with SPEEDTECH for rapid absorption and fast-onset acute pain support. Joint Intensive Care uses BCM-95 turmeric plus five additional botanical ingredients, making it broader-spectrum and better suited to ongoing joint inflammation management.

White willow bark contains salicylates and inhibits COX-mediated prostaglandin synthesis. Its concentration and absorption profile differ from pharmaceutical aspirin, but patients with aspirin allergy, those taking blood thinners, or those who are pregnant should not use it without medical advice.

Joint Intensive Care is better understood as a multi-day botanical anti-inflammatory. Some patients may notice improvement within a few days, while clinical studies on BCM-95 plus boswellia have reported continued benefit over four to twelve weeks.

At the maintenance dose, it can be used for ongoing joint management. Because it contains white willow salicylates, long-term use should be discussed with your chiropractor, especially if you take other medications.

Yes. The actives and excipients are plant-derived, and the product is free from animal products, dairy, lactose, eggs, gluten, wheat, nuts, yeast, and soy protein.
