Jade Hot/Cold Pack — Large Neck & Shoulder Wrap
Handmade reusable grain-filled heat and cold pack — approximately 45 to 50cm — for microwave or freezer use.
Handmade reusable comfort pack for hot or cold therapy
The Jade Hot/Cold Pack is a handmade reusable heat and cold therapy pack crafted from quality cotton fabric and filled with natural round grain seeds.
Unlike single-use disposable heat patches, this pack is designed for repeated use — simply microwave it for heat therapy or place it in the freezer for cold therapy as needed. The large neck and shoulder size makes it particularly well suited for draping over the neck, upper shoulders, and cervical region, as well as laying across the lower back or lumbar area.
These packs are handmade in small batches by Jade and are available in a range of fabric patterns. The fabric designs vary by stock — the pattern you receive may differ from images shown, but the construction, filling, and dimensions are consistent across all packs.
Natural grain filling that holds heat or cold
The natural grain seed filling absorbs and retains heat effectively when microwaved, releasing it gradually and evenly across the treatment area. The round seeds conform and mould to the contours of the body, distributing heat more evenly than flat rigid heat packs.
For cold therapy, the pack is stored in the freezer. The seed filling retains cold well and the flexible fabric allows it to conform to curved areas such as the neck, shoulder, knee, or ankle.
Reusable home comfort rather than all-day heat
Unlike FlexEze heat patches, this pack provides briefer, more intense heat rather than sustained low-level heat over 12 hours. It is better suited to home comfort use, localised short-duration heat or cold applications, and situations where portability and reusability are priorities over sustained therapy duration.
Flexible heat or cold therapy for home use
The large wrap shape is designed to mould comfortably over the neck, shoulders, lower back, or smaller joints.
Moist heat therapy
The natural seed filling retains a small amount of moisture, producing gentle steam-like heat when microwaved.
Cold therapy
Use from the freezer for acute injuries, post-exercise recovery, joint swelling, or headache relief.
Body-conforming comfort
The flexible grain filling moulds to curved treatment areas, especially the neck and shoulders.
Reusable design
Reusable indefinitely when cared for correctly, making it economical and environmentally friendly for regular home use.
Versatile placement
Appropriate for the neck, upper shoulders, lower back, lumbar region, knee, wrist, or ankle.
Heat for stiffness, cold for acute irritation
- Heat therapy: Increases local tissue temperature, causing vasodilation, improving oxygen and nutrient delivery, and aiding removal of metabolic waste.
- Muscle tension and stiffness: Heat reduces muscle spasm and stiffness by decreasing muscle spindle sensitivity and increasing tissue extensibility.
- Pain modulation: Heat activates thermoreceptors which can modulate pain signalling through gate control mechanisms.
- Cold therapy: Produces vasoconstriction, reduces blood flow, and helps limit swelling and inflammation in the acute phase of injury.
- Neck and shoulder tension: The large, conforming design works well across the upper trapezius, cervical spine, and shoulder region.
- Lower back comfort: Laid horizontally across the lumbar region, the pack covers the erector spinae and multifidus muscle groups effectively.
Home comfort and short-duration applications
The Jade pack is most practical for a comforting evening wind-down, post-shower relaxation, or targeted short-duration treatment. For sustained daytime pain management, especially back pain, FlexEze is typically more appropriate.
Handmade packs in assorted fabric patterns

Assorted patterns
Available patterns vary by stock, but construction, filling, and dimensions are consistent.
Drapes comfortably
The flexible grain filling helps the pack conform to the neck, shoulders, and other curved areas.
Large wrap size
Approximately 45 to 50cm for broad coverage across the upper back or lower back.
Heat in short bursts or freeze for cold therapy
- Heat therapy: Place the pack in the microwave for 30-second bursts, checking temperature between each burst until the desired warmth is reached.
- Always test the temperature against the inside of your wrist before applying to the treatment area. The pack should feel comfortably warm, not hot.
- Drape over the neck and shoulders, lay across the lower back, or position on the treatment area as needed.
- Use for 15 to 30 minutes per session. Allow the pack to cool fully between uses before reheating.
- Do not use on bare skin if the pack is very hot. Use a thin towel between the pack and skin when needed.
- Cold therapy: Place the pack in a sealed bag and store in the freezer for approximately 2 hours before use.
- Apply cold therapy for up to 20 minutes at a time. Place a thin cloth between the pack and skin if the cold is intense.
- Cold therapy is most effective within the first 48 to 72 hours of an acute injury. For chronic conditions, heat is generally preferred.
Keep the seed filling dry
- Do not wash or wet the pack. Moisture inside the seed filling can promote mould growth and affect performance.
- Spot-clean the fabric cover only if needed with a lightly damp cloth and allow to dry completely before use.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
- If the pack develops a burnt smell during microwaving, it has been overheated. Allow it to cool and assess the fill.
- Discard if the seeds are charred.
- Do not leave unattended while microwaving.
Important — please read before use
- Always check temperature against the inside of the wrist before applying to the body.
- Do not use on broken skin, open wounds, or areas of acute swelling without consulting your chiropractor or healthcare professional.
- Do not use heat directly over areas of acute inflammation, suspected fracture, or within 48 to 72 hours of a new soft tissue injury — use cold therapy instead during the acute phase.
- Do not use while sleeping or leave unattended on the body for extended periods.
- Consult your chiropractor or doctor before use if you have diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, poor circulation, or impaired skin sensation.
- Keep out of reach of children and animals. Do not allow children to use the pack unsupervised.
- This is a comfort product, not a TGA-regulated medical device. It is not a treatment for diagnosed medical conditions.
