About this product

Extra width for larger muscle groups and body regions

Victor Pro KTape is a 75mm wide kinesiology tape roll manufactured by Victor Sports Club Supplies.

It is wider than the standard 50mm rolls commonly sold in pharmacies and sports stores. The extra width provides more surface coverage per strip, making it particularly suited to the lower back, quadriceps, hamstrings, upper back, and shoulder complex.

Kinesiology tape is an elastic cotton-based tape with a heat-activated acrylic adhesive. Unlike rigid sports tape, it is designed to maintain normal range of motion while remaining applied.

At Lakeside Chiropractic, this tape is intended for patients who have been shown an application technique by their chiropractor or already understand basic kinesiology taping.

How it works

Proposed mechanisms of kinesiology taping

Evidence is stronger for some mechanisms than others, and overall findings vary by condition.

1

Proprioceptive feedback

Continuous tactile pressure stimulates skin mechanoreceptors and may improve awareness of limb position and muscle activation.

2

Pain modulation

Tactile input may compete with pain signals through gate-control mechanisms at the spinal cord level.

3

Subcutaneous decompression

Skin convolutions created by the tape may slightly decompress superficial tissue, although direct clinical evidence is limited.

4

Muscle facilitation or inhibition

Application direction and tension are proposed to influence muscle activation, although research findings remain variable.

What it does

Flexible support without restricting movement

  1. Provides skin-adherent support to muscles and joints while maintaining full range of motion.
  2. Delivers continuous proprioceptive input throughout the period of wear.
  3. Can be applied in inhibitory or facilitative patterns based on clinical assessment.
  4. Remains water-resistant during showering and light swimming.
  5. Uses a discreet beige colour suitable for wearing under clothing.
  6. The 75mm width reduces the number of strips needed for larger treatment areas.

How it helps you

An honest summary of the evidence

  1. Myofascial pain syndrome: A 2025 review found short-term pain reduction and improved pressure-pain threshold, particularly around the trapezius.
  2. Delayed onset muscle soreness: A 2021 review found reduced soreness at 48 and 72 hours after exercise.
  3. Knee osteoarthritis: A 2021 review found reduced pain and improved isokinetic strength, though not all strength measures improved.
  4. Shoulder pain: Evidence supports selected applications for rotator cuff dysfunction, impingement, and hemiplegic shoulder pain.
  5. Balance and proprioception: Emerging evidence suggests benefit in lower-limb applications, including ankle instability rehabilitation.
  6. General musculoskeletal pain: Findings remain mixed, and taping should be used as an adjunct rather than a standalone treatment.
Common clinical applications

How it may be used at Lakeside Chiropractic

Kinesiology tape application over the upper back

Lower back support

Used in decompression or facilitation patterns over the lumbar paraspinals and spine.

Kinesiology tape application around the shoulder

Shoulder support

Used for rotator cuff irritation, AC joint discomfort, or general shoulder instability.

Large-area applications

The 75mm width is well suited to the quadriceps, hamstrings, thoracic spine, and lumbar region.

Upper trapezius and neck

Inhibitory taping may help reduce perceived tension and support movement comfort.

Knee and IT band

May support patellar tracking, VMO facilitation, and lateral-thigh decompression techniques.

Ankle and foot

Used during rehabilitation for ankle sprains, Achilles tendinopathy, or plantar fasciitis.

How to apply

General principles for safe application

  1. Clean and dry the skin thoroughly. Remove body hair if needed.
  2. Measure and cut the strip before applying, then round the corners with scissors.
  3. Apply the first anchor with no stretch.
  4. Apply the tape body with light tension for inhibitory or decompression techniques, or moderate tension for supportive techniques.
  5. Never apply the tape at maximum stretch.
  6. Apply the final anchor with no stretch.
  7. Rub the tape for 20 to 30 seconds to activate the heat-sensitive adhesive.
  8. Remove after 3 to 5 days, or sooner if irritation develops.
  9. Peel slowly in the direction of hair growth while pressing the skin down.

Important — please read before use

  • Do not apply to broken, wounded, sunburned, or actively irritated skin.
  • Do not apply over open injuries, deep bruising, eczema, or psoriasis.
  • Remove immediately if redness, itching, raised skin, or blistering develops.
  • Do not apply at full stretch, as excessive tension can damage the skin.
  • Use only as demonstrated or prescribed by a trained practitioner.
  • Kinesiology taping does not replace chiropractic assessment, treatment, or rehabilitation exercise.
FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Standard kinesiology tape rolls are 50mm wide. The Victor Pro KTape at 75mm is designed for larger treatment areas such as the lower back, quadriceps, hamstrings, and thoracic spine. It can also be cut narrower for smaller areas.

A 5m roll provides approximately 5 to 8 full application strips depending on the length and technique used. A typical lower back application using two 30cm strips may allow around eight applications.

No. Tape colour does not affect clinical function. Beige is simply a discreet option for wearing under clothing.

Common errors include stretching the anchors, using excessive tension, and failing to rub the tape after application to activate the adhesive. Ask your chiropractor to review your technique if the tape peels quickly or irritates the skin.

Yes. Kinesiology tape is water-resistant. Pat it dry gently after showering. Prolonged soaking may reduce how long it remains adhered.

The evidence varies by condition. Support is strongest for myofascial pain syndrome, delayed onset muscle soreness, and knee osteoarthritis pain relief. It is best used as an adjunct within a broader care plan.
