What does bulk billing even mean?

Bulk billing means that we charge Medicare directly for the cost of your appointment with no gap payment. This means you can access our chiropractic services with no out of pocket expense.

How do I know if I am eligible?

To see if you may be eligible for a Chronic Disease Management Plan see the criteria that is available on the Medicare website, which you can find here, Department of Health | Chronic Disease Management (formerly Enhanced Primary Care or EPC) — GP services.

Your GP is responsible for determining if you are eligible to have a bulk billed (no gap payment) appointment with us. As a general guide you are eligible if you have a Medicare card and a health condition that has been present for at least 6 months so therefore considered chronic. It also needs to have an effect on your musculoskeletal system, so that chiropractic treatment is likely to be beneficial to your condition.

How many appointments does Medicare cover?

You can get up to 5 bulk billed – no gap payment - chiropractic appointments per calendar year.

How long is the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan valid for?

You are able to receive 5 sessions per calendar year and you have 12 months from the date of the CDM Plan in which to use those sessions.

formIf my GP has said I am eligible – what do I do next? Once you have had your doctor’s appointment and they have determined you are eligible you need to;

  1. Give your GP our clinic details so that they can create a Team Care Arrangement with us. Your GP will give you a referral form along with any necessary health information that the chiropractor will need. Your GP will give you a form that looks like the picture shown.
  2. Bring the form and the health information to your next chiropractic appointment. We recommend that you bring the forms with you, as although GP clinic’s often offer to email it to us, there is no guarantee we will get it before your appointment and that information is needed in order to bulk bill you with no gap payment. Please also bring in your Medicare card with you to your chiropractic appointment.
  3. After your appointment we bill Medicare directly for the cost so you have no gap payment at all!

Once your chiropractic bulk billed appointments are completed your Chiropractor will write a medical progress report to your GP updating them on your response to treatment and benefits obtained.
