Telehealth Consultation

telehealth chiropractic Joondalup, Perth 6027What is Telehealth Consultation?

With the growing number of COVID-19 cases in WA, people are encouraged to practice social distancing to minimise the spread of coronavirus. However, we realise that because of that, many people affected by musculoskeletal pain or disorder might not be able or want to attend an appointment in person. Therefore, we are introducing a new Telehealth Consultation service. Telehealth Consultation is a one-on-one virtual or over the phone consultation which provides patients with the opportunity to speak with our qualified Chiropractors for advice and support to aid in their recovery without the necessity to attend our clinic. At Lakeside Chiropractic, we provide both telephone consultation and video consultation via Skype or WhatsApp.

What are the Benefits of Telehealth Consultation?

There are numerous benefits of having Chiropractic sessions through telephone consultation or video consultation. One of the major benefits is that the consultation can be simply done using only your smartphone or computer in the comfort of your own home or workplace!

Some other great benefits of having Telehealth Consultation includes:

  • Convenient and reduces waiting times
  • Help you navigate through your aches and pain
  • Provide high quality information and education about your condition
  • Provide you with strategies to help you manage the aches and pains
  • Help you determine whether manual therapy is needed
  • Help monitor your progress
  • Improve access for people who are unable to travel to see a healthcare professional
  • Environmentally friendly as it promotes the reduction of fuel use and carbon emissions

What is the Major Challenge faced by Telehealth Consultation?

Even though telephone and video consultation can be very beneficial in many ways, but, there will be some challenges of Telehealth consultation and one of them being the increased difficulty in diagnosis for Chiropractors. In a standard Chiropractic session, Chiropractors will perform both verbal history taking and physical examination in order to get an accurate diagnosis, without the patient in the clinic physically, Chiropractors will not be able to perform any physical examination on patient and this could lead to incomplete diagnosis. If your condition may need a physical examination, you will be advised by our Chiropractors.

What will be involved in a Telehealth Consultation Session

A telephone or video consultation involve:

  • Taking a detailed history
  • Diagnosing the problem
  • Answering your questions about your condition
  • Providing high quality information about your condition
  • Possible treatment options
  • Self-management strategies to reduce pain
  • Creating personalised care plan that consists of various stretches and exercises
  • Preventive measures
  • Referral to other specialist if necessary
  • Other aspects of health and well-being
