Can I have chiropractic treatmentcare when pregnant Chiro Perth

Changes during Pregnancy

Having a baby can be one of the most amazing, rewarding and challenging times in a person’s life. A mother’s body goes through enormous hormonal and physical changes during pregnancy.
There is a realignment of the spinal curvatures to maintain balance, an exaggerated low back curve is then expected, leading to increased risk of low back pain.

The gradual changes in the hormone will soften the supporting soft tissue around the pelvis and spine, making it easier to have sprain/strain injuries.

Back Pain during Pregnancy

Research shows more than 50% of women experience significant levels of back or pelvic pain during their pregnancy.
The weight of the baby is placed on the muscle, ligaments, joints, discs and bones. This can produce restriction of the spinal segment, as well as increase the tension of the back and hip muscles.

Chiropractic and Pregnancy

Research shows that Chiropractic care may help to relieve back pain for up to 85% of pregnant women. By relieving joint restriction and muscle tension, your spine becomes as flexible and strong as possible, which may help your body adapt to the changing pressures of pregnancy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?

There are no known contraindications to Chiropractic care throughout pregnancy. Spinal adjustments are especially gentle during pregnancy to correct joint restriction. We have a pillow cushion specifically designed for pregnant women to allow them to lie on their tummy! Mums often comment on how nice it is to be able to lay on their stomach right through to late pregnancy.

Do the techniques change for pregnancy?

Yes. Pregnancy Chiropractors are well trained to work specifically with pelvic balance in pregnancy. We focus on pelvic ligaments and their attachments from the uterus over to the sacrum to establish balance in their pelvis. T
