About Magnesium- Schiller Chiropractic Joondalup

Magnesium is an essential mineral in the body. Magnesium deficiency is the second most common deficiency (after vitamin D) in developed countries. Western diets are typically high in grains which are a poor source of magnesium.
A deficiency could cause increased blood pressure. It can reduce glucose intolerance which means increased risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular problems. It can also cause nerve excitation which can lead to restless legs, muscle twitching and tenderness.
Keeping magnesium levels at a healthy range can help with protection against ADHD and depression.
Magnesium deficiency can be corrected with supplementation or change in diet. The human body will absorb as much magnesium as it needs. Too much magnesium and the body will excrete the rest, which means there few side-effects of too much magnesium.
Recommended daily dosage is between 200-400mg. Magnesium should be taken daily, usually with food. Lakeside Chiropractic located in the Perth northern Suburbs now stocks the Metagenics range of magnesium.
